This past weekend we met up with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents to experience our annual day at the lake.
One of the uncles' parents own a boat and they are generous enough to let us have a day with it. It is a highly anticipated event and each year, Chance gets a little better at wakeboarding.
It is one of those situations where Chance's lip reading abilities are on display. While Chance is hanging onto the rope off the back of the boat he has no implants on, and so when he biffs it or needs additional direction, he reads lips. We know if he got what was said because he will sometimes clarify...loudly.
Chance got up on the wakeboard and did a great job. He is trying to master jumping the wake from the boat as he skis along. He almost had it...perhaps next year:)
I had to jump into the water and save Chance once. OK, he was not exactly drowning, but he and some cousins had drifted near the front of the boat while splashing and playing and the boat was getting ready to head out onto the lake. We successfully called out to the cousins to move out of the way, but Chance splashed blissfully on. I wasn't sure that Chance's uncle could see him there so I jumped into the water and made my way out to Chance while calling out that Chance was right next to the boat.
Chance was dunking his head in the water and laughing when I got to him. I pointed to the boat and told him it was getting ready to head out so he needed to move.
It all ended well.
We had a great day at the lake. Chance got a little sunburned but that is because he did not apply a second coat of sunscreen when the rest of us did. He was too busy having fun in the water.
Here's to a great lake day next year!
